Kolkata's vital metro service faced a major disruption on Saturday morning due to technical glitches at Kalighat Metro Station, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. While the metro service was operational between Dakshineswar to Maidan and Kavi Subhash to Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations, it had to be halted due to technical issues.
Metro Railway's CPRO Kaushik Mitra explained that the problem started after initiating the signal starter at Kalighat Metro Station. The repair work commenced promptly, with authorities cutting off power supply between Ravindra Sarovar and Jatin Das Park stations around 8:12 AM. Fortunately, passengers who were already on the metro train were safely evacuated from the affected area. Some commuters opted to catch buses, while others headed to alternative metro stations to continue their journeys.
People expressed sharp displeasure against this mismanagement and mentioned that such issues have become common on the metro.
